It is Wednesday again, and that means I get to tell you a little bit about one of my pieces.
This pear shaped pendant is my newest creation. The stone on this piece is called Rainbow Obsidian, and is very hard to photograph. The stone looks black in the shade, but in the light this stone shows its true colors. It almost looks like a puddle of oil with blues and greens and browns shining across the surface.
I had a little trouble with this pendant as I could not decide what it was I wanted sawn out of the back. After thinking about it for a few days and considering the blackness of the stone I decided on a rose. Now, you might wonder why I would want a black rose on a pendant, doesn’t a black rose symbolize death?
And I would tell you, yes! Exactly!
Lately I have been examining many of my habits and day to day routines and decided to make some changes. Reading a bit more about the symbolism of the black rose, I realized that not only did it mean death, but with that death there is also hope. It can be associated with the death of a bad habit or negative phase in your life and lead to rebirth and emergence of positive change.
I am really happy with this piece and as soon as I find the perfect chain for it it is going in my handmade jewelry shop on Etsy.
