Another prehnite piece fresh from the studio. I have wanted to make a ring with a wider band for a while now, but just hadn’t gotten around to it. After staring at my drawer of stones for a while I decided this little square prehnite was going to be the one.
I am not sure why I have been drawn to this stone so much lately. It has such a mysterious glow and I love the ethereal icy green color. I guess it seems like there is some magic in this stone, just waiting to be used.
The band started out looking much more textured with each blow of the hammer being distinct on its surface, but as I worked the individual marks seemed to meld together and create a more subtle texture softening the look of the silver, which I gave a brushed finish to and added a bit of patina to make it look a little aged.
I really love how this turned out. I love the weight of it and the presence of the ring, it is not a large ring by any means, but the proportions on the finger are nice.
Now, if only I had made it my size.
Hope you are having a great weekend!
