New Work – Boyfriend Ring

Boyfriend Ring

Since beginning to make my own jewelry pretty much everyone in my family has gotten a piece that I have especially made for them. Everyone, except my boyfriend. So… this one's for you babe :)  Hope you like it!

I made this piece out of 16 gauge sterling silver sheet metal. Once I cut out the correct size I stamped the words, "I love you" and engraved a little heart on the inside. Then I soldered the piece together and shaped it on my ring mandrel to make it round. After that I took my Dremel (yes, I know I really need a flex shaft, but for now my Dremel is going to have to cut it. ;)  )   and started making the texture with a bit that I found in my box of random Dremel accessories, most of which I have no idea what the proper use is for. The pattern around the ring band is inspired by tree bark. I then oxidized the piece to make the pattern stand out even more and polished the rest of the ring to a high shine.

This was my first attempt at mens jewelry and I was really happy with how it turned out.
