Sterling Silver Lotus and Aqua Blue Apatite

This stone was an impulse buy. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. Sometimes I buy a stone and know that someday it will make its way into a piece when the time is right and the stone is ready to share what it should become. But this stone did not get to mingle with the others for very long. It is a piece of rough apatite that had the bottom sanded flat. A rough stone is one that hasn’t been shaped and polished like most stones people are used to wearing. This […]more

Fall Color Trends for 2011

I just came across the fall color pallet fashion trends put out by Pantone and thought I would share. I am really liking these colors, especially when you get into the greens and blues. I have been thinking of ways to add color to my pieces and am definitely keeping these ones in mind. You can read the whole article about the hot colors for fall here.

Icy Green Prehnite Burst Necklace

I got some much needed studio time this weekend and this is the result. I love the way this 10mm icy green prehnite seems to glow. It is crafted out of sterling silver with peridot stones on the chain and a small handmade clasp. Moxie says hi, and hopes you are all enjoying summer as much as her 🙂

New Gemstone piece – Agua Nueva Agate

I had a really hard time letting this stone go. I am particularly fond of the naturally purple stones and this one is a beauty. Shades of lavender and white swirl through the stone. There are some rusty colored stripes which give some really nice contrast, but what makes this stone so unique is the small drusy pocket near the center of the stone. The crystals look like sugar. The design for this piece went through many changes, and in the end I decided that the stone spoke for itself and needed to be the focal point of the piece. […]more

Prehnite Sterling Silver Wide Band Ring

Another prehnite piece fresh from the studio. I have wanted to make a ring with a wider band for a while now, but just hadn’t gotten around to it. After staring at my drawer of stones for a while I decided this little square prehnite was going to be the one. I am not sure why I have been drawn to this stone so much lately. It has such a mysterious glow and I love the ethereal icy green color. I guess it seems like there is some magic in this stone, just waiting to be used. The band […]more

Ways to stay Creative

29 WAYS TO STAY CREATIVE from TO-FU on Vimeo. I came across this video and had to share it. There were quite a few things in there that I already do, like keep a notebook, and a few that I need to try out, like getting away from the computer for a bit. What do you do to stay creative?

A few new pieces of handmade jewelry goodness

Here are some better photos of some newly completed rings. I had a group shot a few posts ago, but they needed a close up shot of their own. Things have been slow in the studio as I have been trying to soak up every last moment of summer before the snowflakes begin to fall.  Also, I have been puppy sitting this little rascal that can cause quite a bit more trouble than his size would indicate. (Puppies are hard to get clear photographs of because they don’t often stop moving, and little black puppies are especially hard, and often […]more

What I am working on?

Here are a few things I worked on this weekend. I finally finished a few of the gemstone rings and pendants I posted some in progess photos of before. I also have been working on improving my new studio space. This weekend I painted and hung (with the help of my boyfriend, thanks Scott!) a peg board to help organize some of my tools and supplies. I am always surprised at the number of tools I have collected in the short time that  I have been pursuing metalwork. Oh, yes, and I added a light above the bench to help […]more
