Here is my latest Ring a Week entry. It is a sterling silver ring with a hand stamped pattern. The stone is a light green square faceted Prehnite. The center portion of the setting is polished to a high shine, while the rest is brush finished and oxidized.

Where I have been – some of my first handmade jewelry
Aspiring Metalsmiths Team Blog Topic – January Each Month a group of Metalsmiths choose a topic and we all write on the same topic and post it to our blogs. This month the topic is: Show some of your first pieces that you made! This was a fun topic to write about because I had to go through my old photographs to find some to use for this post. The first thing I realized is that my photography has gotten much much better, which is saying something because it is far from perfect now. As far as the pieces go, […]more
Ring A Week #2
Ring A Week #2I know, I know… It is week three. I didn't get it photographed until today, but I did make it last week. This week I am going to get back on track, so expect RAW#3 in a few days. I was pretty busy last week, and haven't ever actually made stacking rings until now, so here is my first go at it. I love the rings together… Why did I not make them my size! If you want to check out what other tallented artists are making for RAW go to the flickr group here.
Work in Progress – Waiting to be Polished
Things have been busy around here and hammers have been flying. Here is a group of jewelry I just got done adding a patina to that are waiting to be polished. Once these pieces are all cleaned up they will be ready to put in the shop.
THaW #3 – Fine Silver Daisy Frame Pendant
Here is my latest entry for "Thing a Week". It is a fine silver pendant that is about 1 inch square with a clear cubic zirconia set in the center of a daisy shape. I made this as a custom order for a lovely customer. Here is the back of the pendant that was personalized just for her.
THaW #2 – Etched Copper Faux Wood Earrings
I finally took the plunge and tried etching some copper. These two came out really well. I got to use my new disc cutter too! Bonus! The pattern on this was drawn with an office store paint pen. I then put it in an acid solution to etch out the areas not covered with the paint. Once it was finished I used Liver of Sulphur (Smells like stinky eggs, Sorry dear boyfriend!) to give it the patina. I also hand made the ear wires from 20g sterling silver wire. Etching was so much fun. It is crazy to see the […]more
I love the snow!
Snowy Bench Taken with my Phone Camera It took a long time for the snow to come this year. Infact, our first real snow storm didn't even come until Thanksgiving. I know it seems weird that I am so excited for snow, but if it is going to be this cold, I want some snow dang it! We are supposed to get a new storm this weekend. It has been bitter cold this week and as the sky turns grey and the first tiny flakes begin to fall, I look forward to snuggling in a blanket on my couch with […]more
