I thought I would share a piece from my initial idea through all its stages of completion. This chevron pendant all began with a lovely black druzy. This is my initial sketch. I decided to gussy it up a bit with some markers to share with you. Here I have soldered on the bezel for the druzy and the little stone at the top. The little chevron detail is made from some square wire. In this step I have soldered them on and am starting to shape the pendant. The shaping is all done and the piece is all cleaned […]more
New Handmade Running Jewelry & More
We have been busy in the studio. Here is a look at a new piece of my handmade running jewelry plus a few other pieces that have come out of the studio. This first piece is an addition to my running jewelry line. A sterling silver disk with a charming running shoe cutout. To personalize the piece the wearer can put the distance or even initials on the front. I have been working on expanding my offering of personalized handmade jewelry. This next piece I made for close family friends and gave the mother and two daughters each a matching […]more
Sterling Silver Chevron Post Earrings
I recently made a few of my sterling silver chevron earrings, and thought I would take a few progress shots. For some reason I forgot to capture a shot of sawing out the little pieces but you get the idea. You can find the finished product in my shop
The Making of an Art Fair Booth
To art fair or not to art fair? I have been pondering about this for some time now. There are a lot of pros and cons to doing art fairs, and I have finally made the decision to make the jump. Then I thought, hey that might make an interesting series on the blog, so occasionally I will update you on my progress (or lack there of). One of the major hurdles to getting started in art fairs is the booth design. I have been told a good display can make or break your show, even though a killer booth […]more
Running Through the Autumn Leaves an Etsy Collection
Tonight I justified watching bad tv (what kind of bad TV is a secret I will take to my grave!) by also making a lovely etsy treasury. This handmade collection is inspired by fall with a spark of childish fun.
Favorite Recipes – Etsy Metal Blog Carnival
Anyone who knows me knows that I can’t cook anything without a very specific recipe. I don’t know what it is about the culinary arts but their skills are beyond this metalsmith’s abilities. So this is why I decided to share a recipe given to me by my Grandmother. One Christmas she gave each grandchild a little family recipe book, filled with recipes that she had made since we were little. I love this little book so much. I hope you decide to try it out! Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies – Cream together 1 cup shortening – 3/4 cup brown […]more
Summer’s a’comin’! – Etsy Metal Blog Carnival
Finally the weather is getting warm and the garden is being planted. There is mint for Mojitos and herbs for cooking on the grill. I feel like summer is finally coming and I am hoping to do a bit camping and a lot of BBQing. We made a fabulous drink today and I have to share. 1/2c diced strawberries 1 lime, juiced (or more if you like lime. I do, so I actually added an additional half lime) 1/4c pomegranate juice 1/4c mint leaves 1TB Aguave Sweetener (you could also use sugar, or splenda) Club Soda or Sprite 4 shots […]more
April Fools – Etsy Metal Blog Carnival
Happy April from my favorite little bunny. Being mischievous today? I was mostly a good kid, but I do remember one April when I decided to be a bit of a brat. Using a twisty tie on the sprayer on the kitchen sink I made it so when you turned on the faucet the sprayer was positioned to spray the unlucky sink user. I believe my brother was the victim of this prank, and I don’t think he was very happy. Use at your own risk! Welcome to our EtsyMetal monthly Blog Carnival! Click the image above to visit the […]more
