Jewelry For Runners, Inspired by my Mom

I am excited to finally get to share this piece. This little running shoe was inspired by my Mom who is running a half marathon this weekend! I am so proud of her and wanted to make her something special, but different from other inspirational pieces I have seen. I really loved how it turned out so I am offering it in the shop. I am excited about all the possibilities of this piece and the customization that will be possible. Along with the running shoe charm, I made a little round domed charm that says 13.1, but it could […]more

A Fall Drive Through the Utah Mountains

I love having this accessible to me within just a few hours drive. I took this picture on a drive through the Nebo Loop. The fall leaves are changing and the air is getting crisp. As you can see we have already gotten a bit of snow. Although the fall season is usually short, it is one of my favorites. The pups seem to like it as well and race through piles of leaves. I am growing more and more excited for the snows I know are coming. Here is to changing seasons and to warm socks 🙂

Mehndi Inspired Jewelry – from Sketch to Finished Piece

I am very proud of the new pieces just added to the Abella Blue Shop and my Abella Blue Etsy Shop. These pieces began as a sketch in my notebook and then were transformed into necklaces and earrings. I began with a doodle. You can see a bit of it in the photo below. It is the leafy swirly doodle in the corner. I didn’t start with the intention of using it for anything, just a doodle to pass the time. Someone peeking over my shoulder mentioned that it looked like a mehndi or henna tattoo.  This lead me to […]more

Finding your Muse – What inspires you?

This topic is hard for me to narrow down to give more of an answer than, well… everything. I am constantly on the lookout for inspiration and new ideas. I am constantly exploring the outdoors and that is always a great source of inspiration. I have been an outdoor person all my life and it can be seen in a lot of my work such as these: I love to just go for a walk and see what I can find to inspire me. I am always looking for new shapes and forms to incorporate and love to find it […]more

When I can’t think of anything to make…

Recently I got down to my studio and had no idea what to make. I stared at my sketchbook a bit and melted a few bits of wire, but still nothing was coming to me. So I decided to make something for me! I remembered seeing a tutorial in a magazine to make this really fun ring so I gave it a shot. I LOVE IT! I started out with five bits of wire a little longer than I wanted the ring to be Then I laid them out next to each other and made some random kinks and curves. […]more

New Packaging for my Handmade Jewelry

If any of you have ordered a piece in the last month you will have gotten my new packaging! This has been in the works for a little while and I spent a bit of time coming up with a new design. I hope you like it 🙂 I liked my previous packaging, but the time it took to put together was really bogging me down. So as the supplies ran out I began looking for alternatives. I had a few criteria that I knew the new packaging had to fulfill. 1. It had to be pretty (obviously) 2. It […]more
